TV Success for Old Delphinian

Old Delphinian, Blake Ritson (Class of 1991) is currently playing Mr Elton in the BBC TV adaptation of Jane Austen's Emma on a Sunday night. Blake was a mainstay of many dramatic productions at Dolphin, probably most notably in the role of Puck in Midsummer Night’s Dream and the lead in Moliere’s Hypochondriac.

Old Delphinian, Claire Taylor, has been named International Woman Cricketer of the Year at the Awards in South Africa on 30 September, 2009! This has been a tremendous year for Claire who also became the first woman in the 120 year history of WISDEN to be selected as one of its five Cricketers of the Year.

Hosted by Judy, who introduced us to the idea with a personal story of a child losing herself in a book, the guest speaker was Prue Goodwin, Literacy Consultant and doyenne of Primary PGCE courses up and down the land.

We are delighted for William in Year Eight who has secured a top academic scholarship to Harrow in September following a demanding three day assessment process.
West End Success
Congratulations to Sasha in Year Five who has secured a role in the West End production of Les Miserables as Eponine. Sasha was successful through the audition process against stiff competition. We wish her well with what we are sure will be an exciting experience.

Dolphin was honoured by a visit from Sir Nicholas Winton, organiser of the Kindertransport which saved many hundreds of children from persecution in Czechoslovakia just before the outbreak of World War Two, and Dr Pavel Seifter, former Czech Ambassador to the UK.

Maths Challenge Success
Dolphin children in years Six, Seven and Eight entered the National Intermediate Maths Challenge which is designed for pupils in Year Eleven. William in Year Eight not only achieved a Gold Certificate for his performance, but also qualified for the European Kangaroo Competition which is for the highest performing students in over 25 different countries.
UNICEF Day for Change

Dolphin supported the 2009 UNICEF Day for Change in aid of well-being programmes for children in Papua New Guinea on Friday 6th February. Dolphin children came to school wearing one of the colours of the Papua New Guinea flag and made a donation to the appeal, raising over £200.
