2008 Scholarship Successes

Nicholas Nickleby

Years Seven and Eight delighted audiences on the 4th and 5th July when they brought to life the Dickens classic, Nicholas Nickleby.

Dolphin Sculpture

The Dolphin community were delighted to welcome sculptor, Simon Hedger, to the school on Tuesday 1st July.

FunRaisers' Treasure Hunt

Dolphin families enjoyed a wonderful evening on Friday 27th June when FunRaisers organised a delightful Treasure Hunt event, complete with clowns, side stalls and a very tasty BBQ!

Outstanding Ofsted

Ofsted Outstanding Provider rating for Dolphin’s early years provision.

An unannounced inspection of Dolphin’s Nursery and Reception on Wednesday 11^th June 2008 has found the quality and standards of education to be outstanding in all areas.

Bryn Terfel

A grand piano and international opera star, Bryn Terfel, were the most unexpected sight for Year Seven as they neared the summit of Snowdon during their recent walking trip! The hills truly were alive with the sound of music!

Circus Workshop

All the fun of the circus came to Dolphin on Friday 16th May thanks to FunRaisers, the Dolphin Parent Association, who arranged the fun-packed day.

Orchestra Workshop

Dolphin was delighted to welcome the Windsor and Maidenhead Symphony Orchestra to the school hall on the evening of 7th May for a workshop with our own orchestra and all of Years Five, Six, Seven and Eight.

House Music Festival

The hall was full of talent, energy and colour for Dolphin's House Music Festival on Thursday 24th April.

Trip Adventures

Trip Programme enhances learning and develops life skills.

Sky Diving First

Thea Follett, Old Delphinian Class of '98, has become not only the youngest, but also the only female, tandem sky diving instructor in the UK! Thea, who read engineering at Loughborough, is a lieutenant in the Territorial Army (engineers).

Sport Relief

Dolphin children enthusiastically supported the 2008 Sport Relief campaign.

Easter Concerts

The Dolphin community were treated to two wonderful concerts to celebrate the end of the spring term.

World Book Day

Dolphin thoroughly enjoyed celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 6th March, the biggest annual event promoting the enjoyment of books and reading.

WaterAid

WaterAid is an international charity whose mission is to overcome poverty by enabling the world's poorest people to gain access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene education.

2008 Oscar Success

We are delighted to report that Old Delphinian, Hugh Welchman (Class of '88), has won a 2008 Oscar for the Best Short Animation for his Peter and the Wolf.

2008 Scholarship Successes
We are delighted to report that 8 of the 21 children in Year Eight have secured prestigious and highly competitive scholarships to their next schools.

Waste Free Lunch

As part of a Dolphin initiative looking into environmental issues, Year Six decided to start with their own lunch boxes.

2008 Temple Festival

Eighteen Dolphin children performed extracts from an abridged version of Shakespeare’s The Tempest at the 2008 Temple Festival in London on Saturday 19^th January. The children performed in Middle Temple Hall, the room in which Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night premiered!

Budding Young Poet

Congratulations to Anna in Year Two who has come second in the age seven to eight category of the 2007 National Children's Poetry Bookshelf Competition! The prize was presented to Anna by Michael Rosen, the current Children's Laureate, at the Unicorn Theatre in London. All of Year Two went to London with Anna to see her read out her poem and collect her prize

Winter Production

We thoroughly enjoyed Year Five's performances of David Cooper's ' The Importance of Being a McGurgle', a haunted castle musical in the style of Agatha Christie, on the 13th and 14th of December.
